Pop Will Eat Itself vs. On-U Sound

4 05 2008

1992 dub house treatment of PWEI’s Bulletproof by On U Sound’s label boss, Adrian Sherwood. Experimental and rowdy, this spaced-out dub delay drum romp fits the bill for a big room group trip.

This was a single mix off of PWEI’s biggest album, The Looks or the Lifestyle, although shortly after this they got dropped by their label, RCA, and then proceeded to have their biggest single off the same album, Get the Girl, Kill the Baddies, which peaked at #9. They became the first band ever to appear on Top of the Pops without being on a label.

Richard March left PWEI to form Bentley Rhythm Ace in the 90’s and had some great tunes and some big trip-hoppy-breakbeat hits.

Everybody’s happy now we’re Bulletproof!

Thanks Gold Soul! We appreciate your appreciation. PWEI and On U Sound are both underrated in the history of strange dance music.
