This meeting of the minds is unprecedented, and Philly gets the benefit. (actually we get the benefit because we are going to have a killer time doing this)

Expect raunchy rock and roll, unity jams, tough attitudes, and playful hearts.

Friday Night, new Acid Test DJ’s weekly!

10 11 2009

Every so often, something sincerely new comes along. Something that is sacred and unique and dark and mysterious. A party is born. Perhaps not born onto itself but rather strange, special, different, creative, and mischievous people give birth to a party. Something that is not exactly on the radar. Something that is not “yelped” or appears on a photo blog, but instead hits you suddenly like typhoon without warning. A group of people who are tired of the same Friday night bullshit are now about to change the definition of Weekend Warriors. Located under and beside the famous Lucky Cheng’s lounge, the Acid Test crew bring you East Side Story where all things considered, will be considered.

NEWS ALERT, our man to the north, Christ Sinister, has made a new mix, and it is bangin’!!!!!

He is my favorite dj right now, always the right blend of groovy, obscure, pop, and all around heavy stuff. to top it all off, it is also deftly mixed, real smooth.

this has been on heavy rotation since he laced us with a copy. Don’t sleep on this!!! Download and start the saturday night party!

CHRIST SINISTER – resonant energy spell

hey friends to the acid test djs, got a message from udagawa:

on friday october 16th, we’ve been asked a great honor. to host one of our all time favorite dj’s from one of our all time favorite parties.
the TubeSteak Connection is a party i always attend when i visit san francisco and the dj who plays it never ceases to amaze me with his amazing selection. we do this for a living and when i go out i don’t want to hear something i can hear on the radio i want to hear something i have never heard before. to top it off when i go out to party i want to hang out with the biggest, wildest bunch of degenerates i can find. it has it all. so here is the info. come join us and have a great time to one of america’s great little treasures!

Genesis – Abacab edit

acid test party

here is an old Bruce Force (Spiritbear) edit of the heavy ABACAB tune by Genesis.

this marked a serious departure from the Pete Gabriel-led prog rock that genesis had been previous. they produced much it themselves, and focused in on a pop rock sound, employing compression and reverb on the drums to get a dancier vibration. as a result the album went to number in the uk and number 7 in the us!!!

here is my extended kraut-y take on it, narrowing in on the driving drum outro section.

hope you like.

(disclaimer: this edit is over 3 years old!)

Gigs alert, including a one-night only Galaxie secret spot reunion!!!!

26 08 2009

There was a place called Galaxie, at the far end of the Brooklyn star system, where you could bowl AND dance AND smoke and the bouncer would laugh
at your jokes and not kick you out at 4am. The drinks were cheap and fun was around every corner.

Unfortunately we had to leave that milky way behind, due to an imminent cosmic blast that would have wiped us all out…

But, like in any good Sci-Fi scenario, there is a sequel, and that is happening Saturday. One night only, the whole crew gets back together at a different
place (an awesome spot nonetheless, in the Greenpoint constellation). We can have those moments again, and then we’ll go on our way to find an other livable planet.

Come wild’ out and dance with us to the music of

TBD (Doug Lee + Justin V)
Populette (Max Pask + The Wiz)
Chris Sinister (Galaxie founder/resident/half man half superman)
Spiritbear (spiritual guide, druid, bearded)

RSVP to for location

Fri night at the Gutter in W’Burg!

yes, i know there is a new place to bowl in BK, but, that place does not have Spiritbear on Fri night! (in addition to having cute bartenders, retro vibrations, and killer beers on tap) come get down for the get down.

alsoooooo again, stay tuned for the superspirit record release party. it’s my family band. you can check more info on that, here
